Literacy
In Literacy we will be reviewing how to retell a story and explain key details. We will also determine differences between fiction and nonfiction as we utilize text features to locate information in nonfiction texts. Furthermore, we will determine the meanings of unknown words.
At home: Read daily with them. Quiz them on their knowledge—they just might surprise you! Also, please make sure that your child is reading for 20 minutes every night. After reading ask them reading questions from their binder. Have your child write their answers on paper. This is a great way to practice responding to the reading questions. The best way to become a better reader is by practicing! PLEASE make sure your child is doing this. I am trying my hardest to set them up for success not only in first and second grade, but also for their life, but I need your help!
In Writer's Workshop we will be working on:
- Telling stories across 3 fingers (with a beginning, middle, and end)
